The Site
The site is situated to the north of Meikle Earnock Road, and at present has a dwelling located upon it, together with a number of outbuildings.
Noting the existing use of the site, it is considered that the site is brownfield in nature. The site extends to some 7.31 acres and is bounded to the north by open fields, to the south and east by new build properties and to the west by an electrical transmission station.
Located within the Hamilton Community Growth Area, this area has undergone major change over the past 5 years.
The site required a site-specific design solution in relation to the development plan, consisting of National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4), the South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan (SLC LDP) and associated Supplementary Guidance (SG).
The SLC LDP identifies the subjects as being located within the Hamilton Community Growth Area, and as such suitable for residential development.
