Miller Homes are inviting the public, community groups and other interested parties to view their proposals for a potential housing development on land to the South of Turnhouse Road, Edinburgh.
The proposal is for approximately 100 high quality new homes, including 25% affordable homes, along with associated infrastructure, landscaping, and open space.
It is a statutory requirement of the Scottish planning system to undertake community consultation in advance of submitting a planning application for a major residential development proposal, and our proposals fall into that category.
We have served the requisite “Proposal of Application Notice” to The City of Edinburgh Council on 25th April 2023 and are now engaging and consulting with the local community.
The site is well located for active and sustainable transport links, including a number of bus stops within 400m walking distance, with frequent services to wider area. This also allows for further connections via the train and tram network at Edinburgh Gateway Station.
Edinburgh Gateway Station will be accessible via a new bridge which is being provided within the wider West Craigs Masterplan, this will facilitate sustainable access from West Craigs and Turnhouse Road, to Edinburgh Gateway Station / transport hub / tram etc. The train line is part of the East Coast network and so provides connections to Edinburgh Waverley and to the north of Scotland. The expanding tram network provides connections to the Airport in the west and into the city centre.
The bus service and active travel routes create connections to a number of local facilities including play parks, restaurants and shopping centres in South Gyle. There are also new facilities including a primary school proposed within the wider West Craigs Masterplan (ref: 19/05514/AMC).
